Breaking Through the 7000

European combined events action came to Hexham in the north east of england last weekend. Shane Aston travelled over with a target of breaking 7000 points for decathlon. His first four events on day1 were  a bit diasappointing for the Shane but things clicked in his final event of the day with a pb in the 400m. His performances on day with a decent hurdles, pole vault, a javelin PB and a 1500m PB to get over 7000 points and move onto a new level of achievement and status at European level. 

100m: 11.34; long jump: 6.57 shot putt: 11.84, high jump: 1.93m, 400m: 50.75, 110mh: 14.98, discus 37.62m, pole vault 4.11m, javelin 59.45m, 1500m: 4.54.09

We have juvenile and adult training groups. We cover track and field, cross country, road running and trail/ mountain running. Club coaches have undertaken Athletics Ireland coaching courses and many of them bring years of experience and knowledge to share with members.
