Combined events success

A number of Trim athletes took part in the AAI Combined Events championships on Athlone Arena on Sunday 22 January.

Shane Aston had a great victory in the senior men’s competition by a margin of 36 points ahead Roberto James Paoluzzi ,Ballymena & Antrim A.C. with 3,597 points to 3,561. Shane ran 8.62 in the 60m hurdles, 6.63m in the long jump, 12.43m in the shot put, 1.89m in the high jump and finished the day with 2:56.39 in the 1,000m. Eamonn Fahey,Donore Harriers was third.

In the girls events Caoimhe Rowe took the bronze in the youth pentathlon with colleague Olivia Gonsalves fourth. Zoe McEvoy finished 6th in the under 16 competition. Leah Mahon also took part in the competition. Coaches John Rowe, Pat Comey and Elaine McEvoy felt it was a useful experience for our young athletes in advance of the new indoor championship season.

 

Join our club

We have juvenile and adult training groups. We cover track and field, cross country, road running and trail/ mountain running. Club coaches have undertaken Athletics Ireland coaching courses and many of them bring years of experience and knowledge to share with members.
