Great days work at Meath T&F

Posted by Ciaran Tobin on 11 May 2017

Well what can I say, Sunday was not only the warmest day of the year but also a great day for all our athletes who took part in the Meath Championships on Sunday in Navan.

All athletes shone with an abundance of PB's and county medals. We had 12 athletes on the day bringing home a very impressive 18 medals. 5 Gold, 6 Silver & 7 Bronze.

Pat is only delighted for you all and was heartbroken that he couldn't be there with you on the day. He is proud of each and everyone of you as am I, your parents and your club.

Well done to all, you were all fantastic

Holly O'Donnell - competed in 600m, Long Jump & Shot Putt (Holly has always given her best when competing, wherever she finishes she always has her smile which we all adore. Holly was so close to getting into the final of her 600m, she powered through overtaking a number of athletes in her heat to be pipped at the end. We believe you will get there Holly with no doubt in our mind)

Sarah Caulfied - competed in 60m, 600m & Long Jump (Sarah gave it her all as always and managed to get a new PB in Long jump with a 4.01m jump which gave her the bronze medal and that was even after competing in the Community Games Cross Country the day before where she also brought home the bronze . We know Sarah will go on to accomplish a lot more)

Tomás Gallagher - competed in 80m, 200m & Long Jump (Tomás has only been with us a short time now, Tomás just missed out on the medals having come in 4th place in both events but with the performance he gave on Sunday he will achieve all he desires)

Jack O'Donnell - competed in Javelin, 800m & 1500m (Jack had a great day bringing home 3 medals, Gold for Javelin & 1500m and Silver for the 800m. Even with a trip at the beginning of the 1500mm he claimed the gold. Jack is passionate about his sport, giving it his all)

Oisín Gallagher - competed in the 100m & 200m (Oisín just missed out on the medals coming in 4th place for both events, Oisín is a great character and gives it everything he has. We know Oisín will do well in future events)

Adam Boylan - competed in the 100m & 800m (This was a first for Adam competing for our club and what a performance he put in, the 800m was the closest line finish to take place for 2nd and 3rd position, giving it his all he just missed out on a medal but gained a new PB. Adam's passion showed on Sunday with a great performance)

Leah always pulls it out of the bag on these special days, with her focus and passion for athletics, it really does show, we will continue to see these results and more)

Zoe McEvoy - competed in High Jump & Long Jump (Zoe brought  home 2 Silvers for her High Jump & Long Jump, hoping for a new PB in high jump she just missed it but will get there very shortly. Next up was her Long Jump where on her 1st jump got a new PB with an amazing jump of 4.72m and with her last jump coming in again with a another PB of 4.75m just pipped for the gold by 2cm. Injury set in from the Long Jump and she couldn't compete in her 200m or 800m. Zoe's passion for athletics has shown through competitions and we will see greater results)

We see great focus and passion from these athletes which will get them to their goals, not only in athletics but also in life, again we are so proud of all your achievements and we believe in each and everyone of you

Let's not forget their coach Pat Comey who has brought them to this level of competition, he is always there for them and encourages them to get them to reach their goals. He is very special to these athletes and definitely is more than just a coach to them. So thank you Pat from all the crew .
