Harry sets new record in schools 800m

Posted by Ciaran Tobin on 2 June 2014

Harry Purcell set a new Irish schools record in the senior 800m in Tullamore on Saturday when running 1.49.42. It broke the previous record held by Clonmel runner Sean Tobin, set at the same event last year. In the 400m Harry recorded a time of 47.83 to make it a unique double and scoop the "Athlete of the Meet" award. There was a bit of heartbreak at the end of the day for Harry running in the school colours of Castleknock College when he pulled his hamstring during the 4 x 100m relay.
