On Saturday the Aran Islands half marathon was staged for the thirteenth time in aid of Temple Street Childrens Hospital. An ever present in each of these races has been club member Brian Cully from Longwood. He ran the tough hilly and windy course in 1h42 to finish an excellent fifth place overall. The Business Houses Athletic Association held its KClub 10km race at Straffan on Saturday and Enda Markey ran 38.35.
Two Trim runners took part in the London Marathon on Sunday. Quinton Bourke, who is also chairman of Tri an Mhi triathlon club put in a great effort to run his first sub three hour marathon crossing the line in 2.59.49. Longwood hurling official Barry Clarke ran it in 3.56.
There was an M40 category win for Mark Saunders in the Lismullen 10km in a time of 39.25. Also taking part were Mark Melia,39.40 Don Mahon,40.40,Paul Smith,45.47, Liz Payne,58.56.
