International combined events silver

Shane Aston set a new personal best points tally, was the fourth placed individual in the decathlon and was part of the Irish squad which finished in silver medal place behind Belgium at the European Combined Events second division competition in Madeira on 6/7 July.

His event results were as follows

100m - 11.37

Long Jump - 699cm

Shot Put - 13.38m

High Jump - 195cm

400m - 51.06

110m hurdles - 15.03

Discus Throw - 37.76m

Pole Vault - 410cm

Javelin Throw - 59.05m

1500m - 4:54.49

 

7231point total.

Team Ireland put in a super display in Ribiera Brava to take home silver at the European Combined Events Cup 2nd League.

The team made up of Michael BOWLER, Shane ASTON, Rolus OLUSA, Anna MCCAULEY, Sarah CONNOLL, and Laura FREY finished on a total of 35 821 behind event winners Belguim.

Michael Bowler also put in a brilliant performance in the Decathlon to finish second.

Join our club
