Well done to Jennifer Nugent, Leah Mahon and Zoe McEvoy who did their school, club, parents and coaches proud.
Jennifer Nugent - competed in Long Jump and also competed in the Relay
Leah Mahon - competed in Relay
Zoe McEvoy - competed in Long Jump and came in 4th place, also competed in the Relay
With their field events over, and individual track events, it was finally the Relay.
Nerves were slowly creeping up on these girls as they lined up for this event, with stiff competition, they knew they needed to power through and focus on the end result.
Pressure surrounding them, they didn't let it get to them. Focus and Believe. Then "On your Marks, Set and Bang", Zoe was up first battling to gain speed on some of these top athletes, and with Jennifer in her sights these girls knew exactly what they were doing, baton changeover perfect, bunched up with the competition, these girls battled their way through, Jennifer gone like the hounds of hell and again gaining the speed that she needed. Leah in her sights, their baton change as smooth as you can get, Leah battled through the competition again gaining the speed necessary, pressure on, last person up, last baton change, can they do it and yes they can, baton change was superb. Last person standing, can she make it to the end without a glitch.....yes, she can
Final result Scoil Mhuire Trim 3rd Place and completed it in a time of 52.89 sec.
This is a great achievement for these girls, well done to you all.
