Masters championships in Trim

Our club hosted the Meath Masters and Rd3 juvenile XC in the Porchfields on Sunday 5 January. We were lucky with the weather. The well drained course held up very well and conditions for good running prevailed.
The juvenile league was well attended with our club represented particularly well in the teenage races.
In the masters events the womens race attracted 44 runners and 69 went to the line in the mens.
There was a great turnout from our ranks for running and volunteering. Sean Murphy was 3rd overall in the mens race and won the M45 grade leading our M35 team to second place. Our other category winner was Pat Corcoran in the M60s. Enda Markey was 2nd M50,Tom Feeley 3rd M40. The M35 silver team scorers were Sean, Tom, Padraig Farrell and Kieran Corcoran.
In the womens race Helen Hartnett led the W35 team to a team bronze and got W45 bronze in the process. In the W50 Sharon Costello continued her progress with a silver. The womens team scorers were Helen, Heather Carty and Ciara Delany Stewart.
In the M50 grade we had sufficient quality taking part to make up 2 scoring teams with team A of Enda Markey,Mick Counsel and Eddie Casey clear winners and our second team of Paddy O'Meara (returning after 35 years to the scene of his last cross country race),Barry Harten and Pat Corcoran claiming bronze. We hope to field some club teams at the forthcoming Leinster and national masters XC.
Special word of thanks to the volunteers who set up the course, officiated and helped pack it all away. We have 2 collections of photos from the event taken by John Magee on our club Facebook.
