Masters of the country

The Trim AC runners were out in force last Sunday for the Meath masters cross country. The hilly east Meath course held up well despite three day of constant rain last week and a heavy shower during the womens 4km race didn't hamper the runners or dampen their enthusiasm. In the mens race the club made a clean sweep of the medals in the M40 grade with Sean Murphy putting in a great performance over the 6km course to take the title with the fast improving Mark McGee taking second and Don Mahon third. The M55 grade had a Trim 1-2 with former masters internationals Noel Hanratty and Pat Comey filling the first two places. In the womens race we had one medal winner, Carrie Brogan taking second place in the W50 grade. The team competition was productive from a Trim point of view. In the M50 grade. Hanratty and Comey led their colleagues Martin Brogan, Ciaran Tobin, Brian Cully and John Rowe to county honours. The M35 team category resulted in a silver medal performance by Trim behind one of Ireland strongest masters teams the all conquering Dunshaughlin squad. Sean Murphy led his colleagues Mark McGee, Enda Markey, Barry Harten, Don Mahon and Declan Swords home. Sean Murphy and Don Mahon will be among a large group of club members who will take part in the Dublin city Marathon at the end of the month.

Join our club

We have juvenile and adult training groups. We cover track and field, cross country, road running and trail/ mountain running. Club coaches have undertaken Athletics Ireland coaching courses and many of them bring years of experience and knowledge to share with members.
