MEATH ATHLETICS AWARDS PRESENTATION

The Meath Athletics Awards presentations took place at the Ardboyne Hotel, Navan on Sunday 23 February. The awards were made by county chairman Micheal Cornyn to athletes from the county for their achievements during the 2019 season. Presentations were also made to clubs which won county cups and trophies in cross country, road and track competitions.
National championship medal winners from clubs around the county received awards in recognition of their achievements. Our two national under age medal winners were Joey Hegarty and Camoimhe Rowe.
Our mens cross country team won the Betty and Frank McDonnell Cup for their victory in the Meath intermediate cross country championship at Freyne last October. David O'Connor,Padraig Farrell and Andrew Guy received the trophy on behalf of the winning squad from president of Meath Athletics, Rose Healy in her final evening in that role.
In the cross countryand road awards Ava Costello won the junior womens category,Patrick Brophy on the junior mens track award,Shane Aston was the senior mens field events winner and Noel Hanratty was the top masters man in the cross country and road category.
In the combined events awards Caoimhe Rowe was the winner having put in a very good year of performances at underage and junior level.
Well done to all the athletes who were honoured from all the clubs in particular the Meath Athlete of the Year Andrew Coscoran, Star of the Sea AC who has enjoyed a great start to this Olympic year with some world class times over the mile and 1500m.
