An insight into some of the people who train and compete in the red and white stripes of TRM AC.

ELLEN VITTING
1.When did you start running ?

When I was 19 and living in Spain for a year on Erasmus. Started going on a 2k jog every morning and did my first marathon a year after

2. How did you end up joining the club ?

I moved to Trim in 2012 shortly before my son Aaron was born and one day looked up local running clubs and sent Ciaran an email. I went to the next Tuesday night and never looked back

3. Favourite race(Excluding the Trim 10 Miler and Braveheart 5k)

4. What do you crave after a run


Lucozade (and lots of food)

5. Pre-race meal

Usually just porridge and honey.

7. Any race superstition

8. Track, road or XC?

XC

9. Why do you run ?

Simple because I love it! Love the way it makes me feel, clears the head, puts everything in perspective and the social aspect of it, meeting so many amazing interesting people.

10. Best running memory?

There’s so many, I’ve so many memories from local races the laughing and chatting post race. Being part of the Winning 10m Team and winning the individual Meath 10m championship this year was a great moment.

11. What do you miss most from a running perspective during lockdown?

Running with friends having the craic and having others alongside to push me to run hard at the Tuesday and Thursday sessions

12. Most memorable race that you didn’t compete in

2016 ITERA Ireland 5 day adventure race which I couldn’t do due to health reasons that year but watched on the tracker for the 5 days wishing I was there

13. Who is your running hero

My club mates

14. Split shorts or tight shorts

Both depends on the race

15. What do you listen to during a run( music/podcast)

Never listen to music when racing but for easy runs I listen to 80s or for tempo runs I like a bit of dance music

 

Join our club

We have juvenile and adult training groups. We cover track and field, cross country, road running and trail/ mountain running. Club coaches have undertaken Athletics Ireland coaching courses and many of them bring years of experience and knowledge to share with members.
