More and more and more in Mullingar

The Mullingar AON half marathon organised by Mullingar Harriers AC is an extremely popular and growing event. It has attracted up to1,500 runners in recent years.
The race starts in the centre of Mullingar town and heads out into the surrounding countryside on quiet rural roads and the Royal Canal towpath.taking in its bog-land. The race route is for the most part flat and good for setting a fast time. This year a near gale on the canl section of the race made for difficult race conditions. The finish line was right in the town centre at Mullingar Town Park which made for a great welcome atmosphere for all the runners. Our members a few of whom were taking part in their second half marathon in a week posted good times.
Michael Counsel who is preparing for the Boston Marathon was second man home in the M50 category in 1.27.46.
