Secondary Schools Cross Country Results
Minor Girls
Katie Mulchrone
Well done to Katie Mulchrone who competed in the Schools Cross Country on Saturday.
With muddy conditions, it was a challenge and a half for her and to make it into this was
incredibly a great achievement.
There were over 80 in Katie's age group and she finished in 25th position. What a fantastic result.
Primary Schools Cross Country
Well done to Sarah Caulfield who competed last Wednesday in the Primary Schools Criss Country came home with an individual
medal by coming in 3rd place

Leinster Day 4 Results
U/12 Girls
Sinead Brophy
Robyn Larkin
Sara Harten
For all 3 girls it was their first time running a 600m in the indoor arena in Athlone and with 54 competing they were fantastic.
Sinead was up in heat one and with tough competition it didn't discourage her in any way. She took it in her stride
to get to the finish line and came in with a time of 2:27.95
Robyn was up next in Heat 4 where she ran a fantastic race and again with tough competition, she came in 5th in her heat
with a time of 2:04.53
And finally we had Sara in Heat 5 where she was flying but on the last 150m the tiredness kicked in but ran a great race
with a time of 2:05.06
U/12 Boys
Keith Boylan
Sean McLoughlin
Daithi Grehan
Again for all 3 boys, it was there first time competing in a 600m and a first for Daithi to compete and with 48 competing,
we couldn't have asked for more
Up first we had Keith in Heat 1 but the nerves got the better of him but will be flying for the next time
Sean was up next in Heat 3 and just missed out on qualifying for the final but got an impressive time of 1:56.00
Up next was our newcomer, Daithi who put in a brave race up against some tough competition and came
back with a time of 2:07.83
U/13 Girls
Holly O'Donnell
Ailish Brophy
This was not new to Holly but for Ailish it was her first time to compete in a 600m race on the track and
with 46 competing, they certainly made us proud
Up first we had Holly in Heat 1 of 4, Holly had a fantastic race and where she got a new PB of 2:13.20
Poor Ailish had to wait patiently as she was placed in the last heat but that didn't stop her and she came
back with a time of 2:23.96
U/14 Girls
Sarah Caulfield
Sarah competed in 2 events on this day, the 800m and the Long Jump
First up was Sarah's 800m where she just missed out on qualifying for the final but came back with a time of 2:45.62
and with 33 competing, she certainly did a great job.
Next up was Sarahs Long Jump, with 28 competing and with little training, Sarah had some great jumps coming in 11th position overall.
U/15 Girls
Emma Gibney
Aoife Gallagher
For both girls it was a ew event where they took part in the 800m and with 29 competing they were fantastic
Emma was up first in heat 2 where she never lets us down with her smile until the end and with tough competition
she came home with a time of 2:49.52
Aoife was waiting patiently and the nerves were there, in the final heat Aoife was a up against All Ireland champs and t
ook it in her stride Aoife came in with a time of 3:05.64
U/15 Boys
Jack O'Donnell
Tomas Gallagher
These lads are no stranger to Athlone, where they have competed in a number of events here.
Both Jack and Tomas were in the first heat with 21 competing in total.
Jack was the first to qualify for the final with a new PB of 2.21.22 coming in the top position in the indoors
Tomas just missed out on qualification with a time of 2:33.85
Jacks final came around and with great preparation, he was up against the bet of the best, where he gave
it is all and ended up with yet another PB of 2:19.09 and came home in 5th position and just missing out on
qualification for the Nationals.
U/16 Girls
Jennifer Nugent
Ava Costello
Leah Mahon
Again these girls are no stranger to competition in Athlone over the years. We had Jennifer compete in the 200m and Long Jump,
Ava compete in the 200m & 800m and Leah competing in the Long Jump
Up first we had Jennifer and Ava with their 200m which was the first event of the day, where 16 competed in the fast paced race.
Ava was in Heat 1 and her first time to experience this event, she had a fantastic race with a time of 30.73
Jennifer was up in heat 2 where she ran a superb race with a time of 28.01 and narrowly missing out on qualifying for the final.
Next it was the girls Long Jump, with a long wait and up against some of the top athletes in Ireland, they did us proud.
Both Jennifer and Leah made it into the final of the Long Jump
Jennifer came in 6th place overall
Leah came in 8th place overall
Last up for our girls was Ava's 800m where there was a total of 16 girls in this competition, based on times only,
Ava put in a an exceptional run with a time of 2:59.02
U/16 Boys
Patrick Brophy
Adam Boylan
Finally came the last event for our Trim AC groups and what an end it was to the day. We had both lads in t he 800m
where they put in a strong race with 26 competing.
Up first was Patrick in Heat 1 where he came home a winner with a new PB of 2:12.83 and automatic qualified for the final
Adam was up next in Heat 3 where again he made a new PB of 2:15.52 and again automatically qualified for the final.
With the final approaching, and with the heat taking it's toll, these lads put in a superb end to the day, where
Patrick came in 6th place and Adam 8th
Well done to all, it is a long day but with results as above, it's well worth it.
Don't forget to log all entries into your diaries
