Road Tripping

Summerhill 10km and 4 km took place on Monday. The routes were safe rural roads which encourage many entire families to take part in the 4km event.
Ellen Vitting followed up her recent win in the Lost Sheep Hill Run in south Kerry with a great 41.48 runner up spot in the Summerhill 10km This came less than 24 hours after her arduous recce of over 20km in preparation for the Wicklow Way Relay in Glendalough. In the mens race we had 2nd and 3rd overall with Ronan Moore clocking 38.23 and Tom Feely in hot pursuit just 6 seconds behind.
The other Trim AC results were Ollie Carty,43.55;Mary Carr,47.44;David Hawcroft,47.48;Paula Hegarty,48.50;Avril Winters,50.01;Sean McKeown,51.14;Mairead McMorrow,51.23;Darlene Reilly,53.36;Mark Ginnerty,53.37;Owen Creevy,55.11;Michael Peppard,55.31;Claire Prout,57.37;Derina Rispin,63.06;Majella Thompson,63.18.
In the 4km event there was a popular victory for one of our emerging young middle distance runners when top junior Jonathon Nangle ran 14.31. Linda Lewis was next in for Trim in 18.03 and Karen Westphal 20.16. A special mention must go to young Tadgh Carty who is still in primary school.He fisihed third junior (against teenage opposition) and recorded a great time of 18.26. There were a number of family groups from the club including Cartys, McMorrows and Powers.
In the Letterkenny 10km Sean Murphy was 5th overall and a very clear winner of the M40 grade in a great time of 35.06. His wife Jane also took to the Donegal roads and came home in 51.47.
Moving to Connacht we had Gearoid Rogers taking part in his home town race the Ballymote 5km. He finished a very windy race in a time of 20.31.
In a wet and windy Limerick Marathon Kieran Corcoran defied the elements for a top 50 finish. Kieran put in a fine effort to come home in 3h11m. In the London Olympic Park 10km Robert Farrell ran 41m51 and Tara Ginnerty was delightedd to knock 3 mins off her pb for the ten km.
