Silver lining for Trim

Avondale House and its scenic Forest Park was the home of Charles Stewart Parnell. There are over 500 acres of mature woodland with tree’s from all over the world including the tallest collection of trees in Ireland. On Saturday the grounds of Avondale was the venue for the Athletics Ireland Intermediate and Masters cross country championships. Our club fielded a team in the M35 grade and all four were members of the Meath county squad. Ellen Vitting wasincluded in the Meath intermediate squad.
Sean Murphy followed his recent Leinster M45 victory with an excellent national silver medal in the same age category and 17th overall. The other Trim runners on the county squad were Tom Feeley, Andrew Revington and Joe Cosgrove. Dunboyne runner George Snee led Meath to a very good second place in the inter county team competition. Ellen Vitting the current county novice champion had a great run in the womens intermediate race finishing very strongly in 15th place and was the second placed Meath runner. The county team led by Laura Buckley from Dunboyne ran a super race to claim the team silver.
Well done to all our runners on a great day of running to close out their great cross country season.
