St Johns Ward Crumlin chosen

At the beginning of November the club set up its second winter Charity 3km time trial series. The first two trials were run in dreadful weather conditions but the number of enthusiastic participants was heartening. The series continued for a total of 5 weeks.
Tonight we drew a number from a hat to determine which charity would receive the generous contributions collected from our members.
The number was that of Mark McGee a man who put in a brilliant effort each week and emerged from the series with the second best average times.
Mark who is husband of one of our juvenile coaches Dorenda McGee was delighted with the news as it will result in a donation being made to a charity which means a lot to the McGee family. St John Ward in Crumlin Hospital. This is the main oncology unit for children in Ireland and it relies heavily on charity and volunteer effort.
Your donation and generous effort will make a difference.
"St John's Ward in Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin, Dublin, is the main cancer ward for children in Ireland. During 2012, the ward dealt with 1,440 inpatients and over 7,200 day patients."
