The long run

Posted by Ciaran Tobin on 8 December 2013

Two years ago Mark Melia was contemplating taking up running.

During 2012 he was an enthusiastic participant in lots of 5kms and 10kms aound the Meath and midland area as part of his preparation for the Dublin Marathon in Oct. 2012. With that under his belt he broadened his long (and very long) distance race plans.
This is his impressive haul from over 30 marathons and ultras completed this year. He ran a few half marathons, the Wicklow way Relay, many local 10kms and 5kms to fill in the "gaps". He was an official race pacer in the Kildare marathon and the Dublin City Marathon and delivered "on time". He took in roads, trails, mountains and canal paths the length and breadth of Ireland. He found time throughout to give a hand with club activities like the Braveheart Run, and the recent time trials.

It is a remarkable achievement by a modest man. WELL DONE from all your clubmates.
