The Athletics Ireland national track and field championships took place at Santry on Sat 19 and Sun20 July. Trim Athleticclub had two representatives taking part.Shane Aston continued where he left off in Madeira with another brilliant throw in the javelin of 57.53m in the second round earning him the runner up spot to another Meath athlete Rory Gunning from Fr Murphy AthleticClubwho threw 59.22m. In the long jump David Tobin had another consistent competition and his 7.05m leap in the third round earned the bronze medal behind the Cork duo of Sam Healy, Leevale AC and Shane Howard , Bandon AC. It has been a great journey of training, experience and dedication for these two lads since their childhood days of training on the back pitches of the Boyne Community School though to their first senior national medals. A real case of "long term athlete development" Well done lads.
