Meet our Athletes; Denise Molloy

Walking through Trim with a camán and a kitbag on her way to the "Green"  is how she was seen for many years. Running has become an important part of her sporting life in recent years. Denise Molloy brings determination and focus to her preparation. Some very happy days from great results have followed.

1.When did you start running

2. When did you join Trim AC ?
Around 2012 I think


3.Why do you run
Clears my head and gives me prospective on things that may be on my mind and because I love it and it burns calories


4.Favourite event, race or competition (other than a Trim AC event)?
Wicklow relays such a great team event taking part and spectating and driving from one drop off to the next great crack ..


5.Do you listen to music, podcasts or the natural world while running ?
0ng instead


6. Favourite type of training. ?
Long runs meeting up with the group and having the chats and laughs

7.Who is your athletics hero ?
I think we have enough heroes within our club admire so many because I see what happens when you put in the hard work.

8. What is your best memory from the sport ?
Taking part in my first marathon and the trip up on the bus with all my running buddies, the nervous energy and excitement is contagious


9. What is the best race or athletics competition you ever watched but did not take part in ?
Love watching the athletics on telly love all the different aspects of it and amazing athletes


10. What aspect of the sport gives you satisfaction ?
Being able to complete races that I trained for


11. How important is group training to you ?
While I do train on my own a lot there's nothing like training in a group to keep you motivated and little bit of healthy competition keeps us all in check


12. Has the sport influenced life in general ?
Absolutely it’s very important to me and I like to plan my year around particular races or events.


13 .What do you feel is your best sporting attribute?
Determination


!4. What motivates you to go training on a wet and windy day ?
Race day can bring any weather so don’t let that stop me ,feel stronger after having battled the elements .

15. What advice would you give a new member
Find the group that best suits you. Set yourself short term goals, remember everyone is running to their ability. Run for fun!!!

 

Join our club

We have juvenile and adult training groups. We cover track and field, cross country, road running and trail/ mountain running. Club coaches have undertaken Athletics Ireland coaching courses and many of them bring years of experience and knowledge to share with members.
