Meet our Athletes
A young athlete who has been a model of consistency, willing to learn and develop steadily. She is now progressing through the the junior and under 23 grades at provincial and national level.
Caoimhe Rowe recently received an Athletics Ireland STAR award.
1.When did you start running
I started running in 2007.
2. When did you join Trim AC ?
I joined in 2007.
3.Why do you run ?
I run because I love athletics and I like the challenge of competing.
4.Favourite event, race or competition ?
National Senior Indoor T&F Championships.
5. Have you any pre event routine apart from your warmup ?
No I don’t. I’m happy once I have a good warmup done.
6. Favourite type of training. ?
Split 400s. So 3x (a 300m run with a 45 second break and then a 100m run) with 15 minutes between sets.
7.Who is your athletics hero ?
Dina Asher-Smith
8. What is your best memory from the sport ?
My best memory from the sport was winning my first national medal in 2017.
9. What is the best race or athletics competition you ever watched but did not take part in ?
I always enjoy attending the Morton Games in Santry.
10. What aspect of the sport gives you satisfaction ?
Knowing I’m getting stronger with each session I complete whether it be in the gym or on the track and then seeing the results from this in competitions.
11. How important is group training to you ?
Very important. Having other people there training with me helps me to push myself and get the best out of the sessions. It’s also nice to have people to socialise with.
12. Has the sport influenced life in general ?
Yes it has. It gives me a routine fitting training into my life along with college and everything else. It also helps me to set goals for myself.
13 . Have you a favourite meal before or after events ?
I don’t really have one but I always have a bowl of porridge and a glass of milk the morning before a competition.
14. What motivates you to go training on a wet and windy day ?
I just think of it as another day’s training and always think that by completing the session in those conditions, it will make me stronger.
15. What advice would you give a new member ?
Find an event in the sport that you enjoy and have fun with it!
