Well able to knock out a masterpiece on raceday.

Equally comfortable on road or cross country.

Its all there in the answers.

Leonie Dyar

1.When did you start running – I was probably in my 20s.

2. When did you join Trim AC ?

- April 2015

3.Why do you run ?

- I run because I love it, for its many health benefits, being outdoors, chatting with friends en route and it’s possibly the one thing I am fairly good at.

4.Favourite event, race or competition ?

- Of course, the Trim 10 mile and Braveheart but also Dunshaughlin 10k. Like the Trim events it has such a great atmosphere and a nice route. I really enjoy cross-country and the DCM too.

5. Have you any pre event routine apart from your warmup ?

Having a good nights sleep, keeping well hydrated and a bit of dancing to forget about the nerves.

6. Favourite type of training. ? - Progressive running - I like to start a training session nice and easy and gradually push myself that little bit further each time.

7.Who is your athletics hero ?

- Sonia O’Sullivan

8. What is your best memory from the sport ?

Crossing the finish line at my first ever marathon in Oct 2015. So much emotion.  From that moment I was hooked.

9. What is the best race or athletics competition you ever watched but did not take part in ?

My father calling me into the sitting room to watch Sonia O’Sullivan winning silver in the 1500m at the World Championships in Stuttgart - 1993. I found it inspirational and possibly the moment that set off the spark in me that would solidify running as my passion for life.

10. What aspect of the sport gives you satisfaction ?

- Putting in the hard work and finishing a race having beaten my previous best time is such a great buzz.

11. How important is group training to you ?

- Group training is hugely important to me and I’ve noticed how much I miss the group when out for a while, not only for bringing me along with the training side of things but also for the craic, banter and great friendships that I have formed through the club.

12. Has the sport influenced life in general ?

- Absolutely, meeting like-minded individuals as crazy as I am about running. The buzz before and after events with the team. I would be a very unhappy person without it.

13 . Have you a favourite meal before or after events ?

- I love to get an Eddie Rockets meal after an event (If I think I deserved it!)

!4. What motivates you to go training on a wet and windy day ?

- Knowing how great I will feel when I get back and how training in poor weather conditions will probably make me stronger in the long run.

15. What advice would you give a new member ?

Running can be really difficult when you are starting out, but stick with it, listening to your body and getting to know your limits and very soon you will see massive improvements in your fitness levels and that is such a great feeling.
